Can I read this book without reading Dark Triumph?

Charlotte You should read Dark Triumph first. The first half of the book takes place at around the same time, I believe, but then goes on.

Without spoilers, how is the romantic relationship in this books compared to the previous couples we've seen in the series? (Ismae+Duval, Sybella+Beast) I've loved these relationships in the series and a part of me is worried that Annith's won't live up. I'd love to be proven wrong!

Megan Jones If anything the relationship in this novel is even better and more unexpected. I died of happiness and surprise when I found out.

What happens to Duval and Ismae? Do they ever get married?

A little over half-way in the book, Annith is talking to Balthazaar about a new Hellequin. She asks what sins he is seeking redemption for and the answer is "He was overcome with lust for his own sister, and yet died trying to protect her." IS IT JULIAN (Sybella's brother from Dark Triumph)? It isn't confirmed (unless I missed it) but this seems too large a coincidence ...

I can't wait to read this book!!
