Trying to remember if this was the one where the writer ended up slightly deaf due to some dynamite. Didn't realize that he was participating in a meal that contained human flesh. As well as a few other things. Would anyone remember those parts of what I mentioned as being in the book?

He swam to shore pursued by crocodiles, walked a mile through the jungle to his truck, and drove 200 miles against the clock to a hospital. The other story you mention may be connected with his induction into the Bwame secret society of (I think) the Lega people. Amazingly, these stories are true.(less)
