I don't mean to be disrespectful to Dylan Thomas but I can't help wondering if this book partly inspired 'Under Milkwood'. The idea of the nocturnal life taking precedence over reality is a pretty obvious parallel, but I also noticed many stylistic tropes that the two have in common - did anyone else think the same?
