Jackson county is a beautiful area. It's too bad it sounds like it was seriously maligned in this book, so i will have to read it to find out. What does this author really know of the wars that took place in this state? Most people do not know anything of the Meskwaki and the French and British bloodbath.

The site is huge, although most of it was used for fill when they built the Buttes des Morts bridge. It took about 10 years to dig and held up the housing project (that is, mcmansions that are really ugly) (less)

For those who have both read the book and watched the film: I was watching the film and there were several sequences involving two young boys who shot a farmer, one of whom was then hunted by a posse. Was this in the book? Did I miss the page/column/excerpt where it happened?
