There are several references to Lovely's notebooks that were used as a source when she wrote her self-published book. At one point, it is implied that the notebooks are not actually lost as she testified in court. I thought this was somehow going to be important to the plot, but it's never talked about again. Did I miss something or is this a minor glitch in the story?

I noticed the ratings on this book seem to be higher than the first two books in the series. Is it necessary to read the first two books before this one, or is this pretty much a stand-alone story?

Some of the people who would rate it low aren't bothering with reading and rating it. Bottom-line - it's not much better (or worse) than the first two and though you can read this one first, I think there are some advantages to reading them in order. (less)

During Lovely’s deposition, there is a discussion about her mother’s age. She was born in 1916, died in 1971. But they say she died at age 42. The math just isn’t right. Did I miss something?

Some of the characters are recycled from the previous books, but they serve mostly as unimportant backdrop. Grisham provides thumbnail backstories for the important ones.(less)
