The existence of evil is something that doesn't really make sense if you assume of a god who is loving and powerful. Although philosophers debate over whether the existence of evil and a loving and powerful god is a contradiction, the evidence of the sheer amount of evil makes the existence of a god who is loving and powerful unreasonable to assume. As far as a god who has greater reasons that are beyond what we know is something that no one can disprove but why should people do so? We can say that anything which doesn't make sense is something that is beyond our understanding, but we would never find it reasonable to assume. So, why is it different with god. If a god has greater reasons, he should be able to explain it himself and not need a book or other people to speak for him. (less)
