My copy of this book only has 766 pages not 990. Do I have a different copy?

You can check by clicking the "All Editions" link below the main blurb for the book and compare with what you have (date, cover image, and page count). The page count you have and the page count that GR lists might be slightly different even for the same version. I believe that they try to list only the content of the book, not any extra material at the beginning or end of the book. I am not sure how often that occurs though. You should be able to verify based on the release date for that edition though.

Edit: The original hardcover is listed with 766 pages, so it is likely you have that one. The covers for the first hardcover and first mass market paperback are similar.(less)
