I look forward to reading this book, but in the meanwhile, I'd like to know what timeline the novel encompasses. It seems to me that it extends beyond the time the book was published, 1926. It begins at the end of the Great War in 1918, but appears to progress at least 30 years into the future, without the Great Depression and the Second World War ever happening. Is this something that should simply be ignored?
