Is this really worth it? The complete set is really pricey for me so I want to know if I shouldn't die before reading this. Also, I'm looking at the modern library edition, is it the best one?

The Modern Library edition is the old Scott Moncrieff translation, but edited by Terence Kilmartin and later edited again by DJ Enright. There's a newer set written by a team of multiple translators, published by Penguin, and there are older sets that are just Scott Moncrieff, or just Scott Moncrieff plus Kilmartin. People have differing opinions about which one is "best".

I listened to the audiobook available on 101audiobooks.com for In Search of Time, and I dont think it would have come out to 900 pages (unless perhaps the spacing or text were exceptionally large). If anyone have listened to the audiobook and read the actual book, how much am I missing out on?

That website isn't accessible, so it's not clear which audiobook is being referred to. The whole seven-part novel is 3,000 to 4,000 pages. The seven unabridged audiobook versions of the individual volumes made by Naxos are between 13 and 30 hours each.

If you only listened to one audiobook and not seven, my guess is you heard Volume 1: Swann's Way (about 20 hours, 450 to 650 pages). It's possible you heard a dramatization (a rewrite or adaptation), but the ones I've seen are less than 20 hours. Although I don't know for sure, I imagine those only cover parts of Volume 1 and don't attempt to convey the whole series.

Are the seven volumes of the book completely different from each other in matters of context or are they profoundly related to each other?
