I just began reading this book & I'm puzzled as to the age of the Williamson character & his late wife...he was apparently involved in some clandestine activities during WW II, so by the time of the book, he must be in his 80s...did I miss something about him being a dapper old gent, spry for his age, or something else?

This is the first Martha Grimes I have read, and by extension the first Richard Jury. I'm getting the feeling of a person who has dropped into a party and is entirely unfamiliar with all the guests. My question is, where can I go to, to get a brief outline and background of the characters? I already checked the author's web page.
