i`ve long wanted to read this book. however right now I don`t have the time or attention span. i`m wondering if watch the bbc series will spoil the book if I already know the history the book is based on?

However, it completely missed out on Graves's gentle irony, humour and tremendous scholarship. It's true that he wrote the Claudius books for a lark, but that brilliant mind did not let up even then. No wonder it's so popular after nearly a century of its publication.
