Anna was simply doing the same thing. It was FDR who had betrayed Eleanor by resuming this relationship that he'd sworn to end. So, to answer the question, I think I would also have allowed my father that measure of comfort.
As for whether it was honorable, only FDR would know. Did he provide reciprocal companionship to a grieving, widowed, friend, or did she stroke his ego - and maybe other things. (less)
