I'm looking for a good English translation of this. What I'd like is that you tell me what translation you like, and what is it about that translation that you like? Because as a translator I know we all have our own sense of what's most important to convey, and as readers we all have our on priorities for what we want in a translation. As you may know, there are four complete translations in print (one old one and three modern ones):

Urquhart & Motteux (various publishers)
Raffel (Norton)
Frame (University of California)
Screech (Penguin)

There's also a translation consisting of only the first two of the five parts of the work:

Brown (Alma)
