In the first book the Gunslinger finds a gun filled with bullets and says something like "Dammit someone filled this gun with lead now it's useless". If his bullets aren't made out of lead like on our Earth then what are they made of?

Heating up a gun barrel enough to melt the lead would damage it too badly to use, given the limited technology they still have.(less)

Unlike other Stephen King books, I think this one is for a mature crowd. (less)

I tried to start this series, twice. And both attempts turned out to be a complete failure. So I thought about selling the book but now I'm not sure anymore...What should I do? Am I missing a truly amazing piece of literature or can I keep on living without knowing the purpose of the mysterious quest of the Gunslinger?

Push t…moreI am wondering why your attempts have failed. Was it due to you not enjoying the material/story? If this is the case then you have two options. Push through and finish. Then read the second book. If you still are not finding enjoyment in the series by the second book then your second option surfaces which is, be done with it. At this point it will be obvious that it is not for you. The first book grabbed me an drew me in. I could not wait to read the next book to see where it went. But others have felt lost and confused after the first book and needed the second book to answer the questions the first book left open. Good luck. (less)
