I keep wishing One Click Digital had fast play-speed options. If I were reading, not listening I'd have quit too, I think.

Even as an audio I found it too tedious to keep going. None of the characters is well developed or likable enough to care what happens to them next. I will wonder what happened to the spiny lobsters.(less)

Hope I'm not too late to the party.

I find the timeline drawn up by the author to be quite reasonable, and the book presents compelling arguments for why one happens before the other. Of course, any such speculation is based on a number of assumptions, and at the moment it's impossible to say which set of assumptions is true.

To clarify, the author believes that full-brain emulation is not only possible, but will happen in the next few decades, making post-humans quite reasonably coming before emigration outside the system.

But whether you believe that are not, the book presents an interesting take on it and many ideas worthy of entertaining. I recommend it mainly for the predictions of how things will evolve, more than for character development and plot. (less)
