Is this a direct sequel to The Keeper or just a separate book in the same setting?

Becky Separate book, same setting---some of the events of the first book are recalled, but not that important to the story. Hope that helps.

I saw a comment below about missing animals, but are there any scenes involving any doggie deaths?
