Cervantes manages to tackle several prominent issues from a child's perspective such as parental deportation and animal welfare. The book is extremely well written and you can't help but cheer for Gabby. Cervantes is an excellent writer who really manages to captivate the reader. On top of that she really makes the story accessible to both children and adults, a sign I consider to be a superb writer. I would recommend this one to persons of any age as I feel there is a lot to discuss here.(less)
