I'm just noticing that an additional book was written nearly forty years after Canticle by Walter Miller and a co-author. Is this one of those sci-fi sequels I should just ignore, a la Rama II? Can Canticle be treated as a standalone novel?

I read Canticle often as part of a course I teach, and I never, ever get tired of it. (less)
