There is another biography of Bell, "Queen of the Desert"--has anyone read that? I read several reviews elsewhere and they were not particularly complimentary.

It's been a few years since I read both of them; I don't recall now, but may have preferred Desert Queen over the one by Howell simply because I read it first. Both are well written, and well documented -- and the story of Gertrude Bell is fascinating, so I do encourage you to read about her! Enjoy.(less)
