I bought this book last year from a used book store and am now just starting to read it. Anyway, I see on here that it is #17 in the series. Do I really have to read these in order? I am a stickler for reading books in the correct order, but hopefully I can make an exception for this one. I am so looking forward to reading this. Thanks!

The books are pretty self-contained and any references to past events are brief and explained in-text so it's not like you'll miss a big chunk of the story by not reading the whole series. At most, you'll miss some of the deeper resonances since this is the conclusion of the series.

I read #12 first and enjoyed it so much that I went back and read the first nine in the series (which are all that's available on Kindle) before starting this one. If I could've gotten the other six easily, I would've read them first but I'm still loving it. (less)
