He had the crib from two years ago when he pushed his first wife (or; maybe she wasn’t his first?) down the stairs in the same way. Seems this cold fish is a bit of a sociopath. And, although a denouement isn’t spelled out, it is certainly safe to assume that the chickens will, indeed come home to roost.

lily i'm aware this question is two years old but thought i'd answer anyway - as someone with autism, i believe that although it may be possible for some, …morei'm aware this question is two years old but thought i'd answer anyway - as someone with autism, i believe that although it may be possible for some, the vast majority do not have memory skills to that extent. there's nothing inherently wrong with patrick having an incredible memory and being able to solve the rubik's cube, but it's 100% a stereotype and those traits, along with many others given to patrick throughout the book, highlight the lack of research and care this author seems to have put into writing an autistic character, as everything about his autism is a surface-level cliche.(less)
