Can this book be enjoyed as a standalone, or does its enjoyment depend on knowledge from the previous two books in the series? I was just given this book to read, and wondered what other views there are on its ability to stand alone. If there is a continuing mystery from the 1st or 2nd books of the trilogy, I'd like to be forewarned, for example.

There is not continuing mystery but there is continuing characters who give the trilogy and the environment a perfect form.(less)

These are the only 3 books of May's I've read so far. Do we hear more from these characters in later books? I felt like the story stopped too early here.
