Though he was sent away to prevent this from happening, there's no escaping the fate ordained by the gods. The play Antigone is about after Oedipus dies and her brothers are both killed in battle. Her brother Polynices was declared a traitor by Creon, the self appointed leader of Thebes, and he refuses to have him buried. Antigone ignores his order and suffers the consequences.(less)
