It's true that JS and the Raven King are involved in a short story each, you can also try out those two first and if you like them read the rest since there is chronological or other kind of connection.

In general I would recommend this short story collection to people who fill at least one of these criteria:
-loved the original novel (JS&MN)
-liked the world of the original novel
-like women point of views
-like the 1800s era in England

If you simply liked the original novel and aren't that much into English society and women POVs, chances are you'll be better off skipping it.(less)
