The author does a very good job of "catching you up" on the backstory of the series. With each successive book after the first one, she weaves in another character's story. I would highly recommend starting at the beginning if you could or with one of the "in-between" books like The Christmas Quilt. The author gives you enough of the back story to understand what is going on.(less)
