Does this book read well in the current era? My mother had this book in her library so I had the opportunity to read it when I was very young (early 70's), and, if I remember correctly, this book was written in the 60's. I can't wait to read it again!

Classic novels such as "Jane Eyre" and "David Copperfield" werew written in the 1840s so the action takes place in the 1840s, but nobody ever says that they are "dated", so I don't know why they say that about "Ammie Come Home".
