The next quartet is the Wild Magic quartet, then Protector of the Small, then the Trickster books. Alanna makes cameos in the other quartets.
I really liked the Wild Magic series but Protector of the Small wasn't quite as good. She also just started a series that will tell the backstory of one of the characters in the Wild Magic series.
There's also a trilogy set in Tortall a few centuries before the Alanna books but her cat is in them. (less)

He also might have been a little jealous of Alanna and had something to prove. That he was better than them all. Just a thought...(less)
