The author herself seemed, in her afterward, surprised she awed by the threads that stretch from the first book through all the rest to knot and unknot here in such beautiful, satisfying culmination. I'm left feeling only profound gratitude for this world, these gorgeous humans I've been able to grow with. And these dragons. These magnificent dragons who are us and beyond us as equals and sages and true wonders. All of us grow up entranced by them, the lucky few of us keep them with us as we age. But they never leave us, even when we turn our backs on them... and Le Guin has given us the gift of these stories to help us remember how crucial they are to us understanding who we really are.(less)
