I enjoyed this book but found the ending a bit confusing. Did I understand correctly that Evan killed the young women that were found buried?

Beverley Buehrer Arthur is perfect for Annie because he can keep the ghosts quiet so Annie can sleep. He is her escape...even if only temporarily.
