I mean it's dark and I mean really dark, it's about the nature of good and evil, I think it could be beneficial as long as there is mature discussion about it... definitely not more brutal than real history ya know? and it just is a great basis for discussion about morality and the grey areas... I'm of the mind that kids know more than adults credit them for and the best things for me to watch as a child (and I do mean child as in like 8yrs old) watching things most would call inappropriate for kids, actually helped me make smarter choices, like a movie about a kid on drugs showing the real consequences instead of some cheesy made for kids movie where a cartoon character just says "just say no" over and over lol I remembered always that kid being on drugs and literally dying from it and getting sick and looking so terrible and ending up homeless... so I mean maybe I'm the wrong person to answer because I truly believe reality is the best teacher and sugar coating art isn't what's necessarily the best for kids but I would read it first and decide for yourself but I truly love the overall message of deathnote, I think it's a masterpiece really (less)
