In Chocolat, it seemed that only those with “sight” can see Pantoufle – Anouk’s special rabbit. Seemed to be the case in The Lollipop Shoes as well. However, here, depending on circumstances, anyone can see Pantoufle, and particularly Bam. Anyone else thinks so, or am I analyzing too much?

Also, it still seems to be those with better imaginations and more childish ways of thinking who can see the animals.
I don't think many saw Pantoufle in this book, probably due to Anouk being older and having more human friends. (less)

I found it a little ironic that in case of the Catholic community, the old and more conservative thinking of Father Reynaud was emphasized with and prevailed in the end, while in the case of Muslim community the liberal thinking of old imam was favored against the orthodox views of his son. While I fully support the progressive viewpoint of the latter, why the modern ways of the new priest were considered undesirable?

Père Francis was stuck in his ways, but he did fit with the village and, in the end, did have a good relationship with them.

His beliefs don't always seem too conservative: think about him telling Guillame that his dog is in heaven, or being flexible about where he takes confession, etc. He also goes on a rant about his attitude to God at some point which I've forgotten, but remember it didn't sound very conservative!(less)

Do I need to read the first two books in the series in order to understand & enjoy this title?

Again I guess this is the US title? I read this as Peaches For Monsieur le Curé in the UK. Enjoyed it immensely. As an aside, is any of the text changed within the book with a title change like this?
