Can I read the second one first, or do I have to read this one? I bought the second one from Dollar Tree, and have been debating this for a while. Also, I typically can figure out what books are talking about from previous installments.

One question about Alts. If one dies before he/she gets assignment, what happens to other one? Does he/she becomes completed automatically ?
