the novel on itself is dark and almost not much to make sense. especially the persian translation that I've read. and the novel itself, though being rooted in Iraniann hitory, is so far away from reality and too dark. readers, especially non-iranians must be aware that this is not a history book it is mere reflections of a dark-minded and psychologically sick narrator. ?

Furthermore, if by "narrator" you mean the writer, then I have to say you are not -by no means- in the position to judge Mahmoud Dowlatabadi, one of the greatest (if not the greatest) contemporary Iranian writers!(less)
