I'd say historic and sociological purposes. One never knows from the book if Giuliani is 100% telling the truth, so it is hard to know how instable he is, in the book he seems like a workaholic but so many are forced to be in high level positions. Other than that he comes across quite well in the book. How times have changed.
There is no doubt that some of the 'wisdom' here is good, but I ask myself did he really change New York so much, or was this put in place by previous mayors and by other factors? I don't know enough about New York to judge. (less)
