The movie misses a lot and does not compare with the book. For instance, James and Bob live on the fifth floor, the movie shows first floor.
Also, James saw the cat a day or so before in his building, thinking "Bob" belonged to someone living in the building, before trying to nurse Bob's wounds. Just a lot of differences and I really liked the book--the movie was okay but missed a lot of the bonding of James and Bob.(less)
