My 10 year old picked this up at the library excited to read it, but I'm having a hard time deciding if it is appropriate for him. Since i don't have time to read it first, I'd love some help from someone who has. I am concerned specifically about mention of attempted suicide and perhaps infidelity at the beginning of the book. What exactly goes on, and how detailed is the description? Anything else questionable?

The MC's dad is cheating, but that is mentioned. There are no sex scenes or graphic descriptions of things. It is very matter of fact. The creatures from the other dimension/realm might be a bit scary. (less)

Is the book Brave Story considered young adult fantasy? Which of the books are similar to this one

I would check into books like Ready Player One and other books that are labeled as LitRPGs.

If you just want the fantasy aspects, I would recommend The Land of Stories or The Divide. (less)
