But I'd say Junko differs considerably from Light in that she wasn't just cruising through life, in a sea of privilege, only to take up a personal kind of 'justice' out of boredom.

Drawing a parallel between the two is very interesting but I think, at heart, Light and Junko are fundamentally different if only because Junko has had to endure a lot of hardship, a lot of time having to do with being a woman in Japan, and it has shaped her while Light has had virtually every single advantage one could possibly have, and this too has shaped his character.
