If you read both of Platt's books together it gives you a g…moreThis book gives a better insight of the impact on modern China and the legacy of the wars. If you read both of Platt's books together it gives you a great account of the first war and what happens to the turn of the century. Lovell's book give a great description of the sociology of, before, and after. I recommend both books.(less)
