The blurb states: "If the first installment charted the rise of the U-boat, this one describes its downfall as the United States became fully engaged in the Second World War." Is this actually an argument of the book - that the entry of the US was central to the downfall of the U-Boat? If so what do other readers think? I'm probably guilty of most of my reading being UK oriented (e.g. Dimbleby's Battle of the Atlantic

The prior director of the Uboat archieve ( Horst Bledow) told me that Blair "didnt know what he was talking about." But I never got Horst to expand on that. Having long thought of Blair's Silent Victory as the best overall account of USN submarines I have been very disturbed by the incongruity of two people I thought highly of being at logger heads.
