Luke Hillier If the general premise intrigues you enough to keep with it, I would encourage you to skim through the first section, which is definitely the most ove…moreIf the general premise intrigues you enough to keep with it, I would encourage you to skim through the first section, which is definitely the most overwhelming and has the loosest narrative structure. You really only need to remember Bit, Hannah, Abe, Helle, Handy, and Astrid (the two main families). From there, it becomes much easier to follow. I DNFd this once and almost did again, but ended up really adoring it. I also reread the first section right after finishing, which proved to be very rewarding. (less)

Her style of writing is very different than most and you really have to slow down your reading pace to get it all. I guess most would say it is slow paced but I think it's just more beautifully written. It did slog down and get dark in the last 1/4 so hence, my 3 star review. (less)
