Was it just my version or do all the others also not have quotation marks in the book? Isn't it annoying? I was close to putting it down, but I like finishing my books. I did take a long time to finish it, opting to read better written books.

I'm not really liking this book very much. As someone else said it's a hard read and I'm having trouble keep track of the names. Am I not alone in feeling this way?

You really only need to remember Bit, Hannah, Abe, Helle, Handy, and Astrid (the two main families). From there, it becomes much easier to follow. I DNFd this once and almost did again, but ended up really adoring it. I also reread the first section right after finishing, which proved to be very rewarding. (less)

So I would really like to read this book and I have read a few reviews, but I still find it hard to know if I would enjoy this book. Is it a very slow paced book, is it boring? Those two questions keep holding me back from buying the book. Could someone please tell me? :)

Karen I actually really enjoyed this book. Her style of writing is very different than most and you really have to slow down your reading pace to get it all…moreI actually really enjoyed this book. Her style of writing is very different than most and you really have to slow down your reading pace to get it all. I guess most would say it is slow paced but I think it's just more beautifully written. It did slog down and get dark in the last 1/4 so hence, my 3 star review. (less)
