Why do i find myself SKIPPING THROUGH ENTIRE CHAPTERS OF THIS POS????????? ENTIRE CHAPTERS!!!!

Can't figure out if all of the mini-references to The Kingkiller Chronicles, which was published 3 years prior to this book, were intentional (homage) or unintentional (ripoff) or if this a nom de plum situation (David A. Wells aka Patrick Rothfuss?) but they are hella distracting.
