I'm thinking of getting this book for a girl I know who will be turning 13 this month. She's quite mature but still I think she'd rather something that wouldn't be labeled as 'heavy' or 'dramatic' Would you recommend this ? Thanks

Erin Extremely well written, but too heavy for a 13 year old in my opinion. There were lots of f-words and a few instances of teen sex.

Hi! I LOVE Saving Francesca, I read it over and over. I didn't really like Looking for Alibrandi though. I want to try this because I need more of this author but it seems like it is really sad, and I like Saving Francesca because it has this beautiful hopeful feel goodness to it. So is On the Jellicoe Road devastatingly sad?

Megan It actually isn't! There are some sad and dark parts of the novel, but it wraps up nicely into a happy ending. I wouldn't label Jellicoe Road as "sad"…moreIt actually isn't! I am really struggling with this book, mostly because I don't understand what these territories are all about and they certainly aren't really trying to explain it. Am I missing something?
