I'm having a hard time getting thru this book. The unremitting brutality is sapping my strength. Please, someone, tell me there is any redeeming light? I'm about 1/2-way thru and ready to close up. And I feel bad about that, because I've read other books by Daniel Arenson and liked them, but this one just makes my mouth twist every time I open it.
GaiusPrimus It gets better, but you probably already finished it or closed it for good by now.

I didn't like this book at all and the only thing that kept me reading was the character of Gloriae as it is very rare that we get a thoroughly evil woman in fiction. I am not sure if I want to read the next book as the only thing that tempts me is the ending and Gloriae. Does the series get better or should I just give up?
Archer011 I am not sure if Gloriae improves her character anymore, and I have not personally read the second book but I have heard that a female character rapes…moreI am not sure if Gloriae improves her character anymore, and I have not personally read the second book but I have heard that a female character rapes a male character. So from that I am assuming that either Agnus Dei, Lacrimosa, or Gloriae rape Kyrie. Or it could be some new character that is the rapist and the victim.(less)
