I thi…moreI've just re-read this book and feel that he always wanted her, anyway he could get her - he fell in love with her long before she did with him. I think the heroine just assumed that he wanted her as a mistress, because of their class differences. And so she was shocked when he offered to marry her because of that assumption. Perhaps I missed something?(less)

I started with the Devil in Winter (#3), then read Scandal in Spring (#4), and now I am reading Secrets of a Summer Night (book #1) and plan to read book #2 after. Nothing was really spoiled for me. By reading the last two books in the series first, I wasn't confused or anything. No, in my opinion, you do not NEED to read the books in order. (less)
