Does the story have a good ending? I still enjoy a story where the virtuous of heart ultimately triumph over adversity. I supposes it gives u a sense of hope in a world that at times seems somewhat dire. Cheers Paul

Is it better to read Morrison's work in a particular order? I've read The Bluest Eye and about to start Beloved, but should I read Song of Solomon first?

Kristin Toni Morrison's books do not need to be read in a particular order, even though sometimes Beloved is referred to as part of a trilogy. I've read "The Color Purple" by Alice Walker and loved it but read "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by Zora Neale Hurston and hated it. How does "Song of Solomon" compare to those?

What are some of your thoughts about the character Guitar, especially his motivation as it relates to the ending of the book? Morrison spelled out some of this, but I think there was more to it.

I think Guitar’s work with the Seven Days group distorted his reasoning. (less)
