I just began reading this, but I feel lost. Am I missing some essential prerequisite knowledge? I know nothing about Marxist philosophy, and I assumed this would be an accessible introduction/overview. Should I learn the basics of dialectical materialism before I endeavor to read this text? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

David Harvey is good too. Bailbar is from an Althusserian perspective, Warren Montag's books on Althusser are very clear and useful. And of course, read Marx's own writings.(less)
