They never actually came back to this.
With so many weird evil creatures (both alive and undead) it could maybe be assumed that this was a test by Dr. Roon to create an evil creature or maybe to bring a dead creature back to life?
As in test things out on a monkey before trying on a human?
Never discussed again though so this is just conjecture on my part. Good question.(less)

It does have some pretty graphic depictions of characters being killed or hurt. It can get a little spooky at times too. (less)
