None of the characters is admirable (Georgie comes close), which makes it harder for me to enjoy the story. But worse, their actions are often unmotivated and unbelievable--especially Martin's quick lust for the "demonic" woman. The surprising revelations are more surprising than believable. Does this novel illuminate human behavior? Is there a subtlety I am missing? Can any reader tell me you enjoyed the book?
