Why did you pick this particular book to read? Didn't it occur to you that you might have had enough of Sherlock Holmes already? It did to me. But I needed a book to take on a long grain ride and it was the best one on the shelf. Will let you know what i think when I'm done!!

Horowitz definitely captures Watson’s voice and the stylized adventuring of Holmes. The details are notable, except for one—Horowitz writes up Watson’s war wound as arm-related but wasn’t it a leg wound? Didn’t he walk with a limp and with a cane in the beginning of the stories?

Allison I believe Horowitz writes that Watson’s old war wound was flaring up in sympathy to the new injury to his arm. Not that the war wound was on his arm.

Do I need to have finished reading the canon to understand House of Silk? I am currently halfway through the Return of Sherlock Holmes but wanted something a bit lighter with modern English for holiday! Will there be anything I don't understand without finishing the canon first?
