I think Longmire is the same character in the TV series and the books, but the novels give you so much more interior dialog. And I can't get enough....(less)
Linda Diabetes. It was another character, Lucian, who was shot and they amputated one leg. Lonnie had diabetes.
Meredith Pretty strong at times. The narrator is mild mannered, but he works with several people throughout that are foul-mouthed. His deputy especially.

It has happened multiple times since then, but it's usually only alluded to. (less)
